Charles grew up in a farming family in Waverley, South Taranaki. He graduated Canterbury University with a Bachelor of Commerce before starting his career in logistics with one of New Zealand’s largest exporters.

In 2014, Charles founded Dickie Direct after recognising the opportunity to import Urea from China at competitive prices, driven by increased Chinese urea production and favourable containerised shipping rates into New Zealand. In the early years, he placed significant emphasis on researching products and suppliers, traveling globally to discover more efficient nutrient forms. With these innovations, Charles was fortunate to build a highly capable team, transforming Dickie Direct into the full-service fertiliser business it is today.

Tom joined Dickie Direct in October 2023, bringing with him over 23 years of experience in the fertiliser industry. A graduate of Lincoln University, Tom began his career farming in Taranaki before relocating to the Central Plateau in 2000. Based in the Taupo office, he currently manages the growing sales team, leveraging his extensive expertise in nutrient advice, soils, supply chain, and sales management. Tom’s deep understanding of the industry, strong networks and continued passion for the NZ Agricultural sector is seeing him play a key role in Dickie Direct achieving its future ambitions.

Jeremy joined Dickie Direct in October 2018 as the first Area Manager, setting a strong foundation for the team. After completing his cadetship at Waipoa in 2010, Jeremy went down to Lincoln University and completed his two Diplomas in Farm Management and Agriculture. Following his study, he went back up to the East Coast to farm for a number of years before starting in the fertiliser industry. Jeremy loves hunting and diving and is passionate about the New Zealand primary industries.

Zara joined Dickie Direct in January 2021 as an Area Manager. She studied at Massey University gaining a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Animal Science. Zara farms alongside her partner on their dairy farm in Dannevirke and is actively involved in new product research and on-farm trials, contributing valuable insights to the Dickie Direct team. In 2023, she returned to Massey University part-time to pursue her Master’s in Agricultural Science, further enhancing her expertise and commitment to the agricultural industry.

Harry initially joined Dickie Direct in November 2019 as the Central North Island Area Manager. After spending three years with Dickie Direct Harry took two years off to do his OE in Europe. Harry then returned to Dickie Direct in November 2024 as the Western North Island Area Manager. Harry works for Dickie Direct alongside managing his families drystock and cropping in Waverley South Taranaki.

Jack started with Dickie Direct in February 2023 as the Central Plateau/King Country Area Manager. Jack studied at Lincoln University and graduated with a Diploma in Farm Management and Diploma in Agriculture, followed by a stint in the sheep and beef sector in the South Island. Jack has an excellent knowledge of farming systems and aims to support farms in improving or maintaining quality within these systems.

Sarj joined the Dickie Direct team in July 2024 as the Waikato Area Manager. After completing his Bachelor in Agri-Business at Massey University, he joined Open Country Dairy as part of their milk supply team developing strong customer relationships. Currently based in Morrinsville, Sarj is actively involved in farming alongside his parents on their family farm. His commitment to sustainable practices and community engagement makes him a valuable asset to the team and the local agricultural industry.

Richard joined Dickie Direct in June 2017 as a storeman. With an eye for detail and a don’t stop to the job is done mentality Rich set the foundation of the Dickie Direct store network. As product throughput, complexity and the team has grown Rich stepped up to the GM of operations role where he manages inbound shipments, oversees Dickie Direct two warehouses and directs the operations team.

Brian joined Dickie Direct in September 2018 as a storeman. With many years of experience in the transport and warehouse industry, he quickly became an invaluable part of the team. In March 2024, Brian transitioned to the role of dispatcher, where he now plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient logistics and timely deliveries. His extensive background in warehousing and transportation, combined with his dedication to exceptional service, makes Brian a key asset to the Dickie Direct operations team.

Joanne is Dickie Direct’s longest standing employee having joined the business in 2015. Joanne has played an integral part in the development of Dickie Direct in what has now developed into a CFO role. Joanne is also heavily involved in the procurement side of the business assisting with the research of new products and suppliers and management of existing supply channels. Dickie Direct have developed a robust global supply network largely thanks to Joanne’s efforts in the area. Being involved in both the procurement and financial side of the business Joanne knows better than any one that in order to sell well you must first buy well.
